Band 6 Locum Occupational Therapist – Acute Inpatients
Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 (as per shift schedule)
Specialty: Acute Inpatient Occupational Therapy
Job Summary
* We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Acute Inpatient team
* The postholder will provide high-quality, patient-centred occupational therapy to adults across acute medical, orthopaedic, neurological, and older adult pathways.
* The role involves managing a diverse caseload, supporting safe discharge planning, and contributing to multidisciplinary working within a fast-paced acute setting.
Key Responsibilities
*
Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, treatment, and intervention for adults within acute inpatient wards.
*
Manage a varied caseload covering:
*
Older adults
*
Neurology
*
Orthopaedics
*
Acute medical presentations
Professional Responsibilities
*
Supervise, teach, and support Band 5 OTs, support workers, and students.
*
Delegate tasks appropriately while maintaining responsibility for clinical outcomes.
*
Demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with patients, families, and colleagues.
*
Apply critical appraisal skills, including the ability to critique research articles and integrate evidence into practice.
*
Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and best practice initiatives.
Essential Requirements
*
BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
*
HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist.
*
Minimum 6 months NHS experience in an acute physical health settingBefore You Apply
