Job Description

Why might it interest you? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist at Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, based at St Michael’s Hospital in Warwick. This role involves delivering specialist occupational therapy within acute inpatient mental health services, supporting individuals with complex needs through structured, recovery-focused interventions. You will lead prioritisation and delivery of services within a multidisciplinary team, contribute to care planning and risk management, and oversee the Activity Co-Ordinator. You will also support ongoing service development. As an Occupational Therapist, you will manage a specialist caseload, delivering care in line with organisational values. You will assess referrals, complete detailed evaluations, and implement tailored treatment plans in collaboration with patients, carers, and other agencies. You will also support staff development through supervision and training, contribute to clinical decision-making, and uphold professional and ethical standards. In addition, you will assist with data management, service monitoring, and continuous improvement to ensure high-quality care delivery. Roles & Responsibilities: • Lead development and implementation of clinical pathways, ensuring OT input is embedded in wider service frameworks. • Coordinate training programmes across multidisciplinary teams, supporting staff development and learning. • Provide specialist OT advice to clinicians, external agencies, and stakeholders. • Monitor and evaluate service performance, identify gaps, and support improvements. • Contribute to complaints and investigations, ensuring learning is embedded in practice. • Maintain flexibility in workload to meet changing service needs. To be successful you will need: • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist. • Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent. • Experience in acute mental health and/or community settings. • Experience supervising staff or students. • Ability to deliver evidence-based assessments and interventions. • Strong clinical reasoning and MDT skills. • Not suitable for newly qualified therapists. • Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
