Minimum Requirement:
Ex probation / ex police staff who have done similar roles
Recent and in-depth experience managing high-risk offenders, ideally within an asylum or criminal justice setting.
Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and offender management frameworks.
Proven ability to work effectively within MAPPA and other multi-agency environments.
Experience delivering tailored interventions and rehabilitation plans.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and complex cases.
Ability to work independently, remotely, and under pressure.
High level of integrity and commitment to public service values
Desirable skills and experience:
Knowledge of asylum processes and immigration legislation.
Experience working with vulnerable populations, including those with mental health needs.
Familiarity with Home Office systems and operational procedures.
Description:
To manage high-risk asylum-seeking individuals accommodated under Home Office provisions, acting as a critical link between asylum claimants and statutory organisations with legal responsibility and powers to manage risk. This role does not duplicate the functions of the police or other enforcement bodies but instead provides assurance through effective escalation and collaborative risk management with partners. The postholder will support Asylum Operations objectives by promoting compliance, reducing reoffending, and progressing cases toward resolution.
Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify specific risk factors, including the individual's history, current circumstances, triggers, and protective factors.
Develop and implement risk management plans aimed at disrupting the individual's ability to plan, fund, or commit serious crime.
Act as a liaison between asylum claimants and statutory agencies, ensuring timely and appropriate escalation of risk concerns.
Engage in Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), ensuring effective collaboration and intelligence sharing across agencies.
Represent the Home Office in multi-agency forums, contributing to comprehensive risk management strategies.
Implement evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs, particularly for those with complex mental health issues.
Promote rehabilitation strategies that encourage pro-social behaviour and address underlying causes of offending.
Maintain regular contact with individuals subject to immigration bail, ensuring compliance and case progression.
Review and update risk management plans regularly in response to behavioural changes or new intelligence.
Work at pace and under pressure, managing a dynamic caseload with minimal supervision.
Liaise with accommodation providers, caseworkers, and support teams to ensure coordinated service delivery.
