Job Description

Are you an experience rolling stock engineer? Are you a strong decision maker and problem solver who is looking for their next step? If so, TXM Recruit are working in partnership with a high-profile railway client who are looking for an On Call Technical Support Engineer to join their team located in Norwich on a 6-month contract basis paying £31.20 per hour PAYE (inside IR35).  Key Responsibilities: You will work on an on-call basis, to manage major incidents and recovery on the running line while providing clear and concise information to Service Delivery, Planning and Service Control colleagues. Whilst on call you will work 14:00 – 22:00 but might be called outside of these hours. You will lead the investigation into safety incidents or safety related unit defects, ensuring suitable and timely short-term mitigation is put in place. Support, or lead in some cases, the company’s processes for service incident investigations, providing technical input as necessary also using their wider railway knowledge to suggest improvement actions. Use onboard intelligent systems such as OTMR, CCTV and RTM to ensure root cause of incidents is established, and to drive maintenance simplification. Who we are looking for:  Relevant Engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ, HND etc). Experience in Rail with knowledge of modern rolling stock. Experience of working with OEMs/suppliers for improved technical performance of trains. Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to influence all internal stakeholders and external bodies. Understanding of the impact of technical faults or maintenance issues on Operations and customers in the form of delays and cancellations and the resulting costs (e.g. impact of delays and cancellations, reputational damage etc). Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills. Understanding OEM and RoSCo technical processes. Problem solving and root cause analysis experience Main Details: Job Title: On Call Technical Support Engineer Normal Hours of Work: 07:00 – 15:00 On Call Hours of Work: 14:00 – 22:00 - On-call 1 week in 2 or 1 week in 3 (TBC) Pay Rate: £31.20 per hour PAYE (inside IR35) – circa £65,000 per annum Base Location: Norwich Travel to occasionally: Ilford and Norfolk and surrounding areas. Travel Pass and Company Vehicle provided for attending breakdowns/incidents when travelling.
