We are looking for a confident, results-driven Onboarding Specialist to join our growing contractor support team. In this client-facing role, you will take warm leads from our Business Development team and guide contractors through the sign-up process, clearly explaining the benefits of our service and helping them get started smoothly and compliantly.
This position requires someone with a strong understanding of umbrella payroll and/or accounting for contractors, alongside proven experience in closing leads and converting interest into active users. You’ll play a key role in providing a positive first impression and ensuring every contractor feels supported, informed, and ready to begin their journey with us.
Key Responsibilities
Receive qualified leads from Business Development Managers (BDMs) and follow up promptly via phone and email.
Contact contractors to understand their needs and explain the benefits of our umbrella/accounting services.
Convert interest into successful sign-ups by building rapport, answering objections, and presenting solutions.
Guide contractors through the onboarding process from sign-up to active status, ensuring all compliance checks and documentation are completed.
Maintain accurate records of activity and conversion rates in the CRM system.
Liaise with internal teams (e.g., compliance, payroll, customer service) to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
Keep up to date with industry changes (e.g., IR35, AWR, HMRC rules) to confidently address contractor queries.
Deliver an exceptional level of service that reflects our reputation for professionalism and expertise. Key Skills & Experience
Proven experience in sales, onboarding, or account management, ideally in the umbrella, payroll, or contractor accounting sector.
Strong understanding of umbrella payroll, contractor models, and the contracting industry.
Confident phone manner and ability to build rapport quickly.
Skilled at managing objections and closing leads in a consultative, professional way.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with CRM systems and lead tracking tools.
Organised, self-motivated, and target-driven. Desirable
Familiarity with IR35, off-payroll working, and compliance requirements.
Experience working with recruitment agencies or contractor referrals.
Exposure to high-volume onboarding environments. What We Offer
