Job Description
Operational Excellence Lead required with heavy engineering experience – permanent opportunity with great prospects at a large process engineering manufacturing site in north Birmingham. Mon - Fri, 8.30 - 4.30.
The Operational Excellence Lead will champion, support and / or lead implementation of Operation Excellence, Continuous Improvement, and problem-solving Initiatives. They will form part of an essential element of the Plant’s Continuous Improvement Programme.
They will have autonomy to operate across and support all functions and at all levels to implement Operational Excellence requirements, tools & techniques.
They will be able to implement Operational Excellence activities without conflict with every day operational duties.

Experience to support your application:
* Degree level qualification in engineering / manufacturing
* Experience in a heavy industrial environment
* Exposure in Lean 6 sigma practices and implementation
* Ability to lead teams and get buy-in
Operational Excellence Lead Responsibilities:
* Be the link with the cluster Operational Excellence Leader and the first point of contact for Operational Excellence support, advice, and training.
* Support the leadership team and provide technical advice on Operational Excellence tools & techniques
* To act as a change agent for leading continuous improvement processes on site while instilling a culture of accountability
* To identify opportunities for improvement at local level
* Have the tenacity to challenge the ‘Status Quo’
* Engage with Team Members to drive and inspire change
* Lead regular continuous improvement events on site to improve employee skill and knowledge development as well as KPI performance improvement. Tools and techniques used (not exclusive: Workplace Organisation (5S & Visual Management) & Root Cause analysis Problem Solving (DMAIC)
* Dupport the 5S program using training and auditing of processes
* Dupport lead initiatives in all manufacturing areas, focused on process improvements to improve quality and reduce waste with clear measure outcomes
* Educate all employees as necessary, in the C1 / Lean tools & techniques and ensure there is a continuing program to maintain and develop knowledge, awareness and commitment
* Assist Manufacturing personnel in creating relevant Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation and ensure the SOP details are accurate and up to date
* Maintain metrics, analyse results, and develop improvement plans. Assure initiatives are completed to meet safety, quality, and cost goals.
* Identify and implement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of process improvements
* Report monthly Operational Excellence performance
