Job Description
Ionic Recruitment are currently looking for an Operations Manager on behalf of our client.
Introduction:
Our client, a well-established regional main contractor, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee construction delivery across a portfolio of new build, refurbishment, and maintenance projects. Based out of Bolton, this is a key leadership role offering long-term career progression and the chance to shape operational strategy across the North West. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, a proven background in managing multiple project teams, and a focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 per annum
Location: Bolton-based, covering North West region.
Job Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the delivery of multiple construction and maintenance projects across the North West.
*
Oversee operational teams, including Contracts Managers, Site Managers, and support staff.
*
Develop and implement delivery strategies to ensure consistent performance, safety, and quality.
*
Act as a senior point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service and long-term relationship building.
*
Monitor financial performance and work with commercial teams to protect project margins.
*
Ensure health and safety compliance across all sites and embed a culture of safety-first delivery.
*
Support business growth through operational planning, resource forecasting, and performance reviews.
*
Drive improvements in site productivity, client communication, and workforce development.
*
Provide regular reporting to the senior leadership team on progress, risks, and key milestones.
Requirements:
*
Proven experience as an Operations Manager or senior-level Contracts Manager in the construction industry.
*
Background in delivering a mix of new build, refurb, and planned maintenance projects.
*
Strong understanding of construction programmes, commercial controls, and client engagement.
*
SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Platinum), and First Aid certification required.
*
Strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills.
*
Full UK driving licence essential.
*
Competent in Microsoft Project and general project management tools.
*
A degree or equivalent in Construction Management or related discipline is preferred.
