Location: Head Office based in Bury, Greater Manchester.

Cheetham Hill Construction has been operating for almost 60 years. Our people are our most important asset, and we are proud to say that we have many employees who have been with the company for over 15 years, some over 35 years. With the recent transition to an Employee Ownership Trust we are seeking an Operations Manager with experience in civil engineering and earthworks to join our team, working out of our Head Office in Bury and covering the North West and Yorkshire. We believe in training and progression within the company, and all our people are directly employed. The successful candidate will potentially be invited onto the Board of Directors in the future.
What you will be doing:
As our new Operations Manager you will oversee our team of Contract Managers, ensuring all projects are completed safely, to budget and within client-defined timescales. Supporting the Managing Director, you will have overall management for the operational delivery of live projects, and hold regular project team meetings, ensuring all actions are recorded and carried out accordingly.
You will promote best practice to ensure the use of company policies and procedures in terms of financial management, health and safety, quality, environmental and engineering on all aspects of the contracts we deliver are adhered to. Enhancing and promoting our reputation is key, and you will do this creating positive workspaces and environments with our supply chain, our clients and our workforce.
Tell us about you:
Ideally you will hold a civil engineering degree or equivalent, along with a valid CSCS card. You must be confident and competent in Health and Safety practices. If you have significant experience managing all aspects of civil engineering projects, including drainage, concrete, piling, earthworks, utilities and flood defence works, we would like to hear from you. Equally important will be your site/team management experience and ability to manage budgets and programmes. Outstanding communication skills will be required in order to lead negotiations with client representatives at a senior level and knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts is also required.
