Operations Site Supervisor – Waste Management & Recycling
Job Title: Operations Site Supervisor
Salary: £34,000 - £40,000 + pension plus expenses
Location: Stockport – There will be travel to sites required UK wide
Previous Titles: Operations Supervisor, Yard Operations, Foreman, Team Leader, Operations Manager
Previous Industries: Waste Management, Transfer Station, MRF (Material Recovery Facility), Soils, Land Remediation, Resource Recovery, Power Plant, Heavy Industry
About the Role
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in remediation activities or enabling works, ideally within waste management, landfill, construction, or related fields.
• Qualifications: Relevant NVQ or City & Guilds qualification.
• Health & Safety certifications (e.g., SSSTS/SMSTS, Asbestos Awareness) are desirable; willingness to obtain these if not already held.
• CSCS card is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong decision-making skills with the ability to work independently.
• Experience mentoring junior team members and fostering a positive health and safety culture.
• Previous people management experience is a bonus but not mandatory.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to motivate teams and engage with colleagues, suppliers, contractors, and the public.
• Knowledge of safe systems of work and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Proficient IT skills for preparing accurate, professional reports and documentation.
• Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and achieve targets confidently.
Personal Attributes: Team player with a flexible approach, comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Strong leadership and motivational skills to drive team performance.
Additional Requirements: Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide as needed
