Job Title: Optical Store Manager
Location: Southeast Birmingham
Job Type: Part-time (3-4 days per week) or full-time (5 days per week)
Salary: Attractive salary negotiable and up to £17ph (DOE)

In addition to a full range of optical services—including OCT imaging, diabetic screening, dry eye clinics, NHS exams, emergency eyecare, and home visits—the practice has recently introduced hearing care services, offering patients a more comprehensive approach to their health.
About the Practice:
Based in the heart of Acocks Green, this independent and long-established practice is renowned for its patient-focused care and expert team. The environment is welcoming, supportive, and designed to provide outstanding service in both vision and now hearing care.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Optical Store Manager to lead our Acocks Green team. This is a hands-on leadership role covering all aspects of store operations, staff supervision, and patient care. You’ll play a key role in both optical and audiological services, helping the practice continue its growth across both specialties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the daily operations of the optical store, ensuring efficiency and high service standards
* Dispense eyewear at all levels
* Support the integration and promotion of hearing care services, including ear health checks and clinic coordination
* Lead, develop, and motivate the store team to achieve performance goals and deliver excellent patient care
* Oversee patient journey from welcoming and guiding patients to dispensing, frame styling, and ordering glasses
* Ensure the store is fully stocked and assist with stock control and ordering processes
* Maintain compliance with industry regulations and accurate patient records
* Deliver expert advice on frames, lenses, and optical products to meet patient needs
* Foster a positive, supportive, and professional work environment
Skills and Experience:
* Proven management experience in an optical retail environment or similar
* Ability to dispense eyewear at all levels confidently
* Strong leadership and team management skills
* Excellent communication and customer service abilities
* Sound knowledge of optical dispensing and product ranges
* Highly organised with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
* Passionate about providing outstanding patient care
* Interest in expanding knowledge into the audiological field (ear health, wax removal, patient screening)
Working Hours:
* 3-5 days per week – Mon – Friday (No weekends)
