Outdoor Education Teacher | Alternative Provision | Blackpool
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a dedicated Outdoor Education Teacher to join our alternative provision school in Blackpool. About the Role
As our Outdoor Education Teacher, you will be a key member of a supportive and holistic team. Your primary focus will be on designing and delivering practical, hands-on learning experiences in an outdoor environment. You'll work with small groups, providing a curriculum that not only teaches practical skills but also builds confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
This isn't about formal qualifications; it's about passion and potential. We welcome applications from both qualified teachers and unqualified instructors with a strong background in outdoor pursuits and working with young people.
Key Responsibilities
Lesson Delivery: Plan and lead a variety of engaging outdoor activities, such as bushcraft, navigation, and team-building exercises.
Skills Development: Foster students' personal, social, and emotional growth through experiential learning.
Well-being: Utilise the therapeutic benefits of nature to improve students' mental health and self-esteem.
Relationship Building: Develop strong, positive relationships with students who may have complex needs.
Safety: Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in line with risk assessments.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience working with young people in an outdoor, youth-focused, or alternative provision setting.
A genuine passion for outdoor education and its transformative benefits.
A resilient, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs (e.g., SEN/SEMH).
Excellent communication and rapport-building skills.
Relevant qualifications in outdoor pursuits (e.g., Mountain Training, First Aid) are highly desirable but not essential.
