Your responsibilities will include: Planning and delivering creative outdoor education sessions that link to the curriculum where appropriate (e.g., environmental studies, bushcraft, navigation, team-building, adventure activities). Integrating practical outdoor learning with core academic concepts to enhance engagement and understanding. Providing tailored 1:1 and small group tuition and support to students with diverse needs, including those with SEND or social-emotional challenges. Creating a positive, safe, and inspiring learning environment both indoors and outdoors. Assessing student progress through observation and practical application, adapting teaching methods as needed. Working collaboratively with our dedicated team of AP staff, parents/carers, and external agencies. Ensuring all outdoor activities adhere to health and safety regulations and best practices. What We Are Looking For: Essential (Qualified or Unqualified): A 2:1 (or higher) degree in any subject from a recognised university. A demonstrable passion for Outdoor Education and its positive impact on young people. Significant experience in leading or assisting outdoor activities with young people (e.g., youth work, adventure guiding, uniformed organisations, sports coaching, charity work). Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and motivate students. Patience, resilience, empathy, and a highly adaptable teaching approach. A proactive attitude to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development. A robust commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (if not already held). Desirable (but not essential): Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or other recognised teaching qualification. Relevant outdoor education qualifications (e.g., ML, SPA, NGB awards, First Aid certifications specific to outdoor environments). Experience working in an Alternative Provision (AP), Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) setting.
