Job Description

Are you a detail-driven Package Engineer with a strong background in process equipment, vendor management, and technical integration within pharma, oil & gas, or advanced manufacturing environments? This is a rare opportunity to take on a central technical role in the delivery of two major capital projects, backed by significant investment and focused on the development of cutting-edge sustainable fuel technology. You’ll be working with pharma-grade process systems, high-performance powder handling equipment, and complex multi-disciplinary designs, ensuring critical equipment packages are specified, sourced, and integrated flawlessly. From fluidised beds and granulators to calciners and dryers, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of key equipment - from design and procurement through to FAT, installation, and commissioning - ensuring compliance, quality, and performance at every stage. Job Responsibilities: Technical Expertise & Integration * Provide in-depth technical knowledge on specific equipment packages, ensuring specifications are correct, complete, and fit for purpose. * Work across engineering disciplines to ensure full system integration, covering mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation, automation, and containment needs. * Apply knowledge of preferred components and supplier standards, ensuring alignment with project design philosophies. Risk Mitigation * Manage vendor interfaces and technical specifications to identify and resolve issues early, reducing project risk across all phases. * Ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental guidelines. Cost and Schedule Control * Coordinate vendor deliverables to help maintain cost and schedule discipline. * Support technical bid evaluations, procurement strategies, and vendor negotiations to ensure best-value solutions without compromising on quality. Quality Assurance * Review and develop detailed quality and performance specifications for package equipment. * Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs) and related quality assurance processes to ensure equipment is ready for seamless commissioning and reliable operation. Communication & Collaboration * Serve as a key liaison between design teams, procurement, construction, commissioning, and third-party vendors. * Ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements. Lifecycle Value & Sustainability * Evaluate equipment for maintainability, operability, and long-term lifecycle costs. * Help select technologies that align with energy efficiency and sustainability goals, contributing to a lower environmental footprint. Experience Required: * Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or similar). * Strong technical background in package equipment design, specification, and vendor management. * Experience working on large-scale capital projects within pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, fine chemicals, or similar high-integrity manufacturing environments. * Proven ability to manage equipment integration across multi-disciplinary project teams. * Knowledge of CDM regulations and quality assurance processes (FATs, documentation control, etc.). * Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset – able to work across functions and with external suppliers. * Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of identifying risks and resolving technical challenges early. * Site-based experience is highly desirable
