About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities Team at Rochdale Council. This specialist role focuses on supporting children and young people with disabilities, helping them and their families achieve positive outcomes through tailored support and high-quality social work practice.
As a Senior Social Worker within CWD, you will:
Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989 and the Care Act 2014.
Identify the child's needs, strengths, and risks, ensuring all interventions promote safety and wellbeing.
Develop and review care plans in partnership with families and multi-agency professionals.
Monitor and respond to any safeguarding concerns, ensuring full compliance with child protection procedures.
Coordinate and arrange short breaks, direct payments, and personal assistant support.
Assist families in accessing benefits, housing support, and community resources.
Advocate for children's rights and inclusion in education, recreation, and social life.
Support transition planning, working closely with adult social care to ensure continuity as young people move into adulthood.
About You
We are looking for a qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Work England) with:
A strong background in children's social care, ideally within a CWD or safeguarding service.
Experience in multi-agency partnership working.
Excellent assessment, planning, and communication skills.
A compassionate, person-centred approach that promotes independence and inclusion.
