Job Description

We’re FYBA Talent, a growing specialist recruitment business based just outside Petersfield, and we’re looking for a part-time Finance Assistant to join our team.

This is a new role within the business and would suit someone with good finance/accounts experience who is looking for a flexible part-time position and enjoys taking ownership of their work.

The role

You’ll work closely with the Directors and our external accountants, taking responsibility for the day-to-day finance administration of the business, including:

  * 

    Credit control and chasing outstanding invoices

  * 

    Keeping on top of aged debt and resolving payment queries

  * 

    Reconciling invoices and investigating any discrepancies

  * 

    Supporting our internal payroll processes

  * 

    Checking and processing contractor timesheets

  * 

    Making and recording payments

  * 

    Maintaining accurate financial records

  * 

    Liaising with our external accountants, including preparation for VAT returns

  * 

    General accounts and finance administration

There will also be scope to get involved in other areas of the business depending on your experience and interests.

About you

We’re not looking for a qualified accountant or someone overly senior. More important to us is someone who is:

  * 

    Experienced in credit control, accounts or finance administration

  * 

    Organised and comfortable managing their own workload

  * 

    Confident chasing payments and speaking with customers

  * 

    Accurate and good with numbers

  * 

    Proactive and willing to take ownership

  * 

    Comfortable working in a small business where everyone gets involved

Experience using Xero would be beneficial, as would previous exposure to payroll, VAT preparation or contractor timesheets, but these aren't essential.

Hours & flexibility

We’re looking for around 16 hours per week and can be flexible about how those hours are structured.

This could work particularly well for someone looking for school hours, shorter working days or 2–3 days per week.

We'd like someone who can spend time with us in the office near Petersfield, particularly while getting up to speed, with flexibility around the working arrangement once established.
