Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen with our Ipswich-based manufacturing client for a PT HR Manager. As part of their continued growth, they are bringing their HR function in-house for the first time, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to make a real impact.

This is a standalone, hands-on role where you’ll build and shape the HR function from the ground up. As a key member of the Management Team, you’ll play a central role in supporting both the business and its people. Our client is looking for someone who is proactive and passionate, ready to take ownership, introduce best practices, and help drive a positive and high-performing workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  * Manage and oversee all HR activities for small team

  * Ensure compliance with employment law, policies, and procedures

  * Review, implement, and maintain HR policies and best practices

  * Coordinate and support employee training and development initiatives

  * Manage the monthly payroll process (experience with Sage is desirable)

  * Support performance management and employee engagement activities

  * Provide guidance and support to managers on HR matters

  * Assist in developing incentive and reward schemes

  * Maintain accurate HR records and documentation

Skills and Experience

  * Proven experience in a generalist HR role (manufacturing/engineering desirable)

  * CIPD qualified

  * Strong working knowledge of Sage payroll systems

  * Ability to work autonomously and take full ownership of the HR function

  * Solid understanding of HR policies, procedures, and UK employment legislation

  * Proactive, organised, and confident implementing improvements

  * Passionate about people, culture, and continuous improvement

  * Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels

Benefits

  * Working 18 hours per week (3 x 6-hour days – flexible)

  * £40,000 FTE (pro rata to circa £20,000 for 18 hours per week)

  * 25 days holiday plus BH & Pension
