Senior Social Worker - Integrated Access & Referral Team (i-ART) | Part-Time Agency
Location: Cheshire West & Chester Council
Working Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (22 hours per week)
Contract: Part-time, Locum
Pay Rate: £39 per hour (umbrella)
About the Role
Cheshire West & Chester Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Integrated Access & Referral Team (i-ART), the first point of contact for referrals relating to children and their families.
In this role, you will support the Team Manager in delivering a high-quality, responsive access service, assessing risk and making key safeguarding decisions for children, young people, and vulnerable adults. You will provide leadership and supervision to a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring best practice and statutory compliance across the service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the i-ART team alongside the Team Manager.
Make critical decisions on referral thresholds and safeguarding concerns.
Supervise, mentor, and coach social workers, early support officers, and other staff.
Ensure statutory duties and safeguarding frameworks are followed.
Develop and implement improvements in service delivery and quality.
Collaborate with families, partner agencies, and professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
Essential Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England.
Proven experience in a front-door or referral service within children's social care.
Experience managing staff, including supervision and performance support.
Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and statutory guidance.
Excellent decision-making, risk assessment, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy multi-agency team.
Working Arrangements
Part-time: 22 hours per week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)
Hybrid working as per council policy, with support to make a tangible impact on service delivery
