Are you a talented and creative Music Teacher with a Good Honours Degree in Music looking for a part-time position? We are working with a warm and welcoming primary school in Kingston upon Thames seeking a part-time Music Teacher (2.5 days/week) to deliver engaging and enriching music education across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2.
Whether you are QTS-qualified or an experienced Music Educator with a strong foundation in music instruction, this is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young learners and lead the musical life of a thriving school.
The Position
As a part-time Music Teacher, you will deliver a high-quality and well-rounded music curriculum that engages pupils from Early Years through to KS2. You’ll guide children in developing foundational music skills and foster a love for performance and creativity. This role includes leadership of clubs, performances, and oversight of peripatetic staff.
Key Responsibilities

Planning and preparing lessons tailored to pupils’ needs, delivering a stimulating and rich music curriculum

Teaching music theory, aural skills, composition, and practical techniques
*
Acquiring and preparing appropriate teaching materials and resources
*
Liaising with academic staff and parents regarding musical progress
*
Overseeing visiting music teachers and managing teaching schedules
*
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of music exam board requirements
*
Assessing pupils’ abilities, writing reports, and providing feedback
*
Organising and leading recitals, concerts, and school productions
*
Leading musical ensembles and clubs such as choirs and bands
*
Keeping appropriate records and contributing to curriculum planning
Requirements
*
A Good Honours Degree in Music
*
QTS desirable, but not essential
*
Experience working with EYFS, KS1, and KS2 pupils
*
Excellent musical ability and a passion for delivering music education
*
Strong organisation and communication skills
*
Confidence to lead groups, performances, and manage external music staff
