Role Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Passive Fire Engineer to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, inspecting, and maintaining passive fire protection systems in accordance with current fire safety regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and specification of passive fire protection systems
* Conduct site inspections, surveys, and audits to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, particularly BS EN 1366-3 (penetrations) BS EN 1366-4 (Linear Seals), the BS EN 13501 series, & Approved Document B)
* Produce detailed reports, drawings, and assessments using appropriate software
* Collaborate with project managers, architects, contractors, and local authorities
* Ensure proper documentation and quality assurance processes are followed
* Advise clients on fire strategy, compartmentation, and fire risk mitigation
* Conduct site based passive fire protection and compartmentation surveys in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements
* Accurately identify and record breaches of fire resisting construction
* Specify and recommend appropriate remediation methods using correct fire stopping materials including fire batt, sealants, fire collars, wraps and sleeves
* Assist with compiling scope of works and quotations for remedial works
* Prepare detailed reports using Hilti firestop documentation manager or similar
* Ensure installations are carried out to manufacturer guidelines e.g. .IFCC and completed with specified gap tolerances and in line with the Third-Party Certificate Scheme
* Recognises non-compliant work before signing off and provide solutions, including preparing quotes for details scopes of work
* Keep clear and accurate records for IFCC Third Party Certification.
* Attend site with building control officers to walk the site and go through the scheme to ensure sign off
* Explain technical requirements to installers, clients, and contractors
* Provide effective, compliant solutions while working under pressure on site
* Technically skilled, detail orientated, communicative and committed to compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Relevant qualification in fire safety and fire engineering related field
* Proven experience in passive fire protection engineering (2+ years preferred)
* Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and fire safety legislation
* Excellent technical and report writing skills
* Proficient with AutoCAD (desirable)
* Relevant certifications (e.g., IFE, ASFP Level 2/3)
* NVQ level 2 Passive fire protection or working towards
* ASFP level 3 or 4 for further profession.
* CSCS Card and full UK driving licence (if applicable)
