We are looking to appoint a skilled and dedicated Pastoral Lead to join our team in Birmingham. This is a key role in promoting the welfare, safeguarding, and personal development of our pupils, ensuring they feel supported and are able to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
*
Monitor attendance and punctuality across the school, planning appropriate interventions with pupils and families where needed.
*
Liaise effectively with the Education Attendance Service, Children’s Social Care, and other external agencies to support pupils.
*
Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are consistently implemented across the school.
*
Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns, providing advice and guidance to staff, and responding to disclosures in line with statutory requirements and school policy.
*
Assist in the identification, assessment, and referral of children at risk of harm to external agencies such as Social Care, CAMHS, and Early Help services, following up to ensure timely intervention and appropriate support.
*
Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date safeguarding records, ensuring these are reviewed regularly and contribute to case reviews and strategy meetings.
*
Contribute to the assessment of pupils admitted or returning to school, identifying those who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside the classroom.
About You
*
Experience in a pastoral, safeguarding, or pupil support role within education or a related field.
*
A strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and attendance procedures.
*
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, staff, and external agencies.
*
Resilience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
*
Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.
