Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join our new Specialist Satellite Provision supporting Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. This is an exciting opportunity to help children develop resilience, emotional literacy, and positive relationships while building a strong foundation for learning. What You'll Be Doing As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will: Provide 1:1 and small-group emotional support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs. Help pupils manage behaviour and emotions, using trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing strategies. Develop trust and strong relationships with children, becoming a consistent and positive adult in their school lives. Support attendance, engagement, and inclusion, helping pupils feel safe, valued, and ready to learn. Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and the SENDCo to implement behaviour plans, individual strategies, and pastoral interventions. Promote wellbeing and safeguarding, acting as a point of contact for pupils' emotional needs and concerns. What We're Looking For We are seeking individuals who are: Compassionate, patient, and resilient Skilled at building strong, trusting relationships with children Experienced supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs Able to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviours Committed to teamwork and working closely with staff, families, and external agencies Essential Skills and Experience Experience working with children with SEN and/or SEMH needs (in schools, PRUs, alternative provision, or similar settings) Strong understanding of trauma-informed, restorative, and nurturing approaches Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills Awareness of safeguarding and child protection procedures Desirable (But Not Essential) Qualifications in Pastoral Support, Counselling, Youth Work, or Mental Health Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or positive handling strategies Experience working with pupils with EHCPs or personalised behaviour support plans This Role is Perfect If You: Want to make a meaningful difference for pupils who may feel excluded or disengaged Enjoy helping children develop resilience, emotional regulation, and confidence Thrive in a supportive team environment focused on inclusion and wellbeing Believe every child deserves a safe, consistent, and caring adult to rely on What We Offer A chance to join a brand-new, specialist provision and help shape its culture and approach Ongoing CPD in SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and pastoral support strategies A collaborative, supportive team where your contribution is valued The opportunity to transform lives through consistent, compassionate support Ready to Help Build Something Special?
