Physics Teacher – Independent School near Taunton – September 2025 Start * Full-Time, Permanent Teaching Role * Vibrant and Innovative STEM Department * Experienced Teachers and ECTs Welcome * Beautiful Rural Setting near Taunton, Somerset An outstanding independent boarding school located in the picturesque countryside near Taunton is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Physics Teacher for a full-time, permanent position starting September 2025. This role is open to experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers, offering the chance to work within a dynamic Science faculty known for its collaborative ethos, cutting-edge resources, and passion for STEM innovation. The successful applicant will teach Physics from Key Stage 3 to A-Level, and will be encouraged to take part in the school’s wide-ranging co-curricular programme, including STEM clubs, coding workshops, and engineering competitions. Role Responsibilities * Teach Physics across KS3–KS5, including A-Level * Develop engaging, differentiated lesson plans that promote inquiry and experimentation * Use a wide range of practical demonstrations and lab work to support theory * Contribute to cross-curricular STEM projects and student competitions (e.g. Physics Olympiad) * Support pastoral life (form tutor responsibilities and/or boarding if desired) Required Qualifications & Experience * A good honours degree in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related subject * PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) * A-Level teaching experience is advantageous, though not essential * Enthusiastic about working with highly motivated pupils * Willingness to be involved in wider school life (e.g., trips, open days, STEM events) School Information The school is a thriving day and boarding school for ages 11–18 with a strong emphasis on academic rigour, pastoral care, and creativity in teaching.
