Job Description

Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Piling Supervisor to take responsibility for the delivery of all piling works associated with the construction of a solar farm. The successful candidate will oversee piling crews on site, ensuring that works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the correct technical standards. This role requires excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, together with a solid understanding of piling methods, ground conditions, and the specific requirements of renewable energy projects. Responsibilities The Piling Supervisor will manage and coordinate piling activities on site from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring that works follow design specifications and method statements. They will be accountable for enforcing health and safety standards, conducting daily site inspections, and leading toolbox talks to promote a strong safety culture. Close liaison with engineers, site managers, and quality teams will be essential to address technical challenges and verify that piles are installed to the correct tolerances. The supervisor will monitor progress against programme, keep accurate records of piling activities, and ensure plant, equipment, and materials are used efficiently. They will also be responsible for overseeing subcontractors, resolving day-to-day issues, and reporting regularly to the Project Manager on performance and site conditions. Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will have proven experience supervising piling works on large-scale construction or renewable energy projects. A sound knowledge of piling techniques, ground engineering, and relevant plant and equipment is essential, along with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong leadership and organisational skills are required to coordinate site teams and subcontractors, while a solid awareness of health, safety, and environmental requirements is critical. Good communication and reporting skills are important, as the role requires effective collaboration with both site-based and project management teams. Qualifications Applicants should hold a relevant trade or engineering qualification and ideally have completed SSSTS or SMSTS training. A valid CSCS card is required, with gold level or above preferred. Experience with quality assurance processes related to piling is advantageous. A First Aid at Work certificate would be beneficial, and a full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel to project sites is essential.
