Nelson Permanent Placements are currently recruiting for Pipe Welders to join our client who are an industry-leading Construction/Engineering Contractor. Their workshop is in Stirchley (where an initial 2-hour Weld Test will take place).
Welding pipes and related components to high standards, potentially for projects in the Food & beverage Industry. The role requires expertise in various welding techniques, reading engineering drawings, and ensuring safety compliance.
They are currently looking for Welders to weld pipes to a high standard (ranging from 2”, 6” and 10” sch stainless steel). You will be helping fit and cleaning pipes on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
* Welding:
Performing welding operations on pipes and related components, TIG Welding techniques
Fabrication:
Assembling and fabricating metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
* Safety:
Adhering to strict health and safety regulations, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
* Quality Control:
Ensuring welds meet specified quality standards, potentially including visual inspection and adherence to codes like AWS D1.1 or ASME B31.3.
* Reading Drawings:
Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to determine weld size, dimensions, and other requirements.
* Installation:
Assisting with the installation of piping systems and related equipment.
* Welding Experience: Significant experience in welding, particularly with stainless steel and/or carbon steel.
* Welding Techniques: Proficiency in various welding processes like TIG and potentially stick welding.
* Blueprint Reading: Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Fabrication Skills: Experience in fabricating metal components and structures.
* Safety Awareness: Thorough understanding of safety protocols and procedures in a welding environment.
* Attention to Detail: A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to ensure high-quality welds.
* Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environments.
Welder Requirements:
* A Valid CSCS Card
* 2-3 years’ experience as a Pipe Welder (within food, pharma or other industrial settings)
* Tools must be PAT Tested and have in-date Welding Calibration.
* Proven knowledge in stainless hygiene welding
* You must have Safety boots, Fire retardant welding jacket, Air fed welding screen, purge pipes and bungs, calibrated welding plant 415v, and grinder and Toolbox with hand tools. All gas and consumables will be provided.
