Plant Fitter
Bury St Edmunds
Up to £39,500 pa
We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Plant Fitter to join our clients team as the sole engineer responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of machinery and vehicles. This is a hands-on, standalone role based primarily in our well-equipped workshop, with occasional site visits for emergency breakdowns and repairs.
The role of Plant Fitter includes:-
Service, maintain, and repair a variety of plant equipment including diggers, dumpers, generators, and pumps.
Carry out routine servicing and inspections of a mixed fleet of 24 vehicles, including cars, vans, and trailers.
Diagnose faults and perform timely repairs to minimise downtime.
Attend emergency call-outs to sites for urgent plant or vehicle repairs.
Maintain service records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Manage workshop tools, parts, and inventory efficiently.
To be considered for the role of Plant Fitter, you should have:-
Proven experience working on a broad range of plant and vehicle types.
Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
Full UK driving licence (essential).
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Good communication skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds in Plant or Vehicle Maintenance) are desirable but not essential if experience is strong.
