This includes conducting regular safety checks, performing mechanical repairs, using diagnostic equipment, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring parts are available. The role demands strong mechanical aptitude, adherence to health and safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team on-site or in a workshop.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Servicing:
Performing regular, scheduled maintenance and safety inspections on heavy plant equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
Repair:
Diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and hydraulic faults using hand and power tools, welding gear, and electrical testing equipment.
Parts Management:
Ordering and ensuring necessary spare parts are available for repairs and maintenance.
Diagnostics:
Utilising computer-based diagnostic equipment to identify and troubleshoot issues with machinery.
Record Keeping:
Maintaining accurate logs of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, often using digital systems.
Health & Safety:
Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines and conducting equipment safety checks to prevent accidents and hazards.
Equipment Management:
Preparing equipment for dispatch to client sites, ensuring it leaves in the best possible condition.
Common Equipment:
Excavators, Dumpers, Loading shovels, Telehandlers, Rollers and similar.
Skills Required
Strong mechanical and hydraulic skills
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and welding gear
Ability to use computer diagnostic equipment
