Job Description
Maxwell Consultancy are working with global engineering business in their search for a Plater/Welder. This is a full time, permanent position workin day shift Monday to Friday with an early finish.
The company has been going from strength to strength in recent times. With an extremely healthy order book, this is a newly created position in their state of the art workshop.
What's required?
* Help to prepare steel or other metal plates and sections for the manufacture of a variety of products
* Identify piece parts to drawings and manufacture accordingly
* To work with various thicknesses of metal plate ranging from 5mm to over 100mm
* To operate heavy-duty guillotines to cut the plates, oxyacetylene flame cutters for curves and complex shapes and utilise rollers/presses to curve and bend plates.
* Weld or bolt together completed plates to fabricate the finished product.
* To cut and shape thin sheets of metal using hand and machine saws, metal cutters and small presses and rollers to create bends and curves.
* Required to read and interpret engineering drawings
* To measure and mark out plates and sections for cutting, shaping and drilling
* To operating plate cutting machines and edge preparation machines
* To operate roll bending machines and presses to form and shape plates and sections guiding cranes and hoists for moving and assembling plates
* To operate CNC computer-controlled and hand-controlled machines.
* To operate band saws to cut material to size and drilling machines to form holes as required
* To work to a high standard of quality standards, safety awareness and housekeeping
* To prepare and fabricate or modify in situ pipework for pump test.
* To support welding activities as and when required.
* To maintain material traceability and identify components accordingly
* To maintain department flexibility and assist with or complete other jobs as required. Training will be given.
* Conduct stock takes on material and move material as required.
* To maintain a clean working environment
* Comply with all company HS&E Policies
* Maintain all documentation, both paper and electronic as required
