Facilities Technician (Plumbing, Steam & Pipework)
Market Drayton | £45,000 per annum | 39 hrs/week – daytime shifts (flexible)
Are you a skilled plumber or pipefitter with experience in steam systems and mechanical utilities? We're seeking a Facilities Technician to join a high-performing engineering team at a busy production site in Market Drayton.
In this critical role, you’ll install, maintain and repair a range of mechanical systems, including steam, water, compressed air and process pipework. This is an opportunity to work with complex infrastructure that keeps production operations running smoothly.
What You'll Be Doing:
*
Install, repair, and modify industrial pipework (copper, stainless steel, ABS, PVC, galvanized).
*
Maintain steam systems, traps, condensate lines, valves and associated safety equipment.
*
Carry out welding and light fabrication for supports, brackets and utility frames.
*
Tackle breakdowns quickly and effectively, logging all work via a CMMS system.
*
Support utilities infrastructure – steam, water, drainage, compressed air – ensuring full compliance with HSE standards.
*
Supervise and ensure contractor work is safe and compliant.
*
Contribute to PPM routines and infrastructure upgrades.
*
Work closely with insurers and ensure adherence to regulations including L8 (Legionella) and WRAS.
What We’re Looking For:
*
Experienced Pipefitter / Plumber / Mechanical Engineer, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
*
Familiar with hot/cold water systems, steam pipework, pumps, valves and schematics.
*
Welding skills and fabrication experience desirable.
*
Comfortable interpreting mechanical drawings and planning safe work methods.
*
Experience using CMMS systems (e.g., HolisTech) a bonus.
Qualifications:
*
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing, Pipefitting or Mechanical Engineering.
*
Welding certification or relevant industry experience.
*
Confined space & hot work training preferred (but not essential).

Strong fault-finding and mechanical problem-solving ability.
*
Safety-focused, practical, and hands-on.
*
Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
*
Thrives in fast-paced environments and works well independently or in a team.
