2 x Lead Plumber
Location: Royal Infirmary Edinburgh
Hours: 8am - 4pm Monday to Friday
Pay: £20.50ph
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Plumber to join our site-based team at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. This key role involves overseeing plumbing operations and ensuring the effective delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance across the hospital site.
As part of the Mechanical Department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of plumbing systems and equipment to ensure the hospital remains operational and compliant with technical and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and support the on-site plumbing team, providing technical guidance and ensuring all operatives receive appropriate training.
* Act as the site lead for:
* CL02 deliveries and training
* Maintenance and chemical deliveries
* Renal plant training and on-site plant maintenance
* Oversee all plumbing installations and manage associated works across the site.
* Scope, price, and return quotes for minor works within agreed timescales.
* Maintain and repair a wide range of mechanical systems, including:
* Heating (pumps, control valves, radiators)
* Ventilation (fans, coils, humidification systems)
* Domestic hot water systems (calorifiers, safety devices)
* Medical gas manifolds and compressors
* BMS (Building Management Systems) control equipment
Experience and Qualifications:
* Secondary education with a good standard in Maths and English
* Recognised apprenticeship in Domestic & Commercial Plumbing and Drainage
* Extensive post-apprenticeship experience in installation, servicing, and maintenance
* Strong knowledge of TMVs and Legionella control (preferred)
* Familiarity with Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) is advantageous
* Industry qualifications such as City & Guilds, S/NVQ, or equivalent (SNIPEF registration preferred)
