Job Title: Plumber (Legionella Compliance)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plumber with a strong background in Legionella compliance and water hygiene to support the delivery of remedial works, system upgrades, and maintenance activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring water systems remain compliant with ACoP L8, HSG274, and BS 8580-1:2019, while supporting wider water hygiene and safety programmes.
Operating across a range of commercial, industrial, and residential environments, this position offers a varied workload and the opportunity to work closely with established water hygiene and compliance teams.
The Role
This is a hands-on position focused on delivering high-quality plumbing remedials that support Legionella risk management. You will work alongside Risk Assessors and Water Hygiene Engineers to resolve non-compliance issues, improve system performance, and ensure ongoing regulatory adherence.
The role will involve a mix of planned works and reactive maintenance, requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing & Remedial Works
* Carry out Legionella-related remedial works including pipework modifications, dead leg removal, and TMV servicing
* Install, maintain, and repair domestic and commercial water systems
* Complete tank replacements, pipe rerouting, and valve installations
* Support system upgrades to improve compliance with current guidelines
* Undertake leak detection/repairs, pressure testing, and flow balancing
Water Hygiene & Compliance
* Work collaboratively with Water Hygiene teams to maintain compliance standards
* Support chlorination and disinfection of water systems
* Install and maintain TMVs, ensuring correct temperature control and operation
* Identify and rectify non-compliant systems in line with regulations
Compliance & Reporting
* Ensure all works are carried out in line with ACoP L8, HSG274, and BS 8580-1:2019
* Maintain accurate records of works completed and system updates
* Conduct site inspections and highlight compliance risks
* Liaise with clients and internal teams to recommend remedial actions
Health & Safety
* Adhere to all health & safety procedures and site-specific risk assessments
* Ensure correct use of PPE at all times
* Identify and report hazards or system risks
Requirements
Essential
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent)
* Experience within water hygiene, Legionella control, or a related field
* Strong knowledge of ACoP L8, HSG274, and BS 8580-1:2019
* Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality remedial works
* Full UK driving licence
* Strong technical and problem-solving skills
Desirable
* Experience with TMV servicing and maintenance
* Knowledge of closed system water treatment
* Legionella risk assessment training or certification
* Understanding of fire safety-related water systems
* Relevant City & Guilds or Legionella qualifications
