Job Title: Post-16 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £84 - £108 per day (Depending on Experience)

A forward-thinking school in Newcastle is looking for a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to support students aged 16 to 19. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about helping young adults with a range of needs – including Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and communication challenges – develop essential life, vocational, and academic skills.
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to post-16 learners with special educational needs.
Assist with the delivery of tailored academic and life skills sessions
Encourage independence, communication, and self-confidence in every interaction.
Support students in community-based learning and transition planning.
Help manage behaviour and emotional regulation in a calm and positive manner.
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to meet individual learning goals.
Monitor and document student progress and wellbeing.
Requirements:
Experience working with students or young adults with SEN (school, college, care or youth setting).
A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Understanding of autism, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
Awareness of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
Relevant qualifications in education or support work are desirable.
Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
