Power Operator / Trade control analyst
Certain Advantage are hiring for a Power Operator based in London
This role is on a 1-year contract basis and is hybrid.
We’re working with a multinational energy corporation, which is one of the largest publicly traded companies globally, operating in more than 90 countries
Responsibilities
Maintain a thorough understanding of the Commercial business needs across the geographical portfolio, and how Commercial Power Operations captures value in commercial markets.
Daily scheduling of European Power Grids
Executing trades bilaterally and on Europe’s power Exchange
Management of day ahead and intra-day cross-border capacities
Contacting counterparties daily to ensure efficient matching
Providing input to IT tool enhancements/requirements
Maintaining a thorough understanding of purchase and supply contracts and the obligations
Maintaining a thorough understanding of the various Power markets and regulatory regimes across Europe
Leading the Commercial Wholesale Operations team through the digitalization journey, removing unnecessary process’s and looking to automate where possible.
Developing cross team capabilities in Gas, Power and renewables, and leveraging synergies to the gain of all areas of the wider Commercial Operations team.
The individual:
Prior experience working in a trading environment and managing risk
Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate a range of European markets
Excellent understanding of European Power Operations and Power Assets
Experienced user of IT systems and knowledgeable on IT landscapes including Power operations platforms
Self-motivated, with an aptitude for accurate problem solving in a very time critical environment
Very strong attention to detail and delivery focused
Proficient English required and at least one further European language desirable (Italian, Spanish or German preferred)
Ability to work without supervision
Learner mindset continually driven to improve systems and process
