Experienced Practice Accountant

Crawley Area | Part-Time (3 or 4 Days per Week) | Permanent

We're looking for an experienced Practice Accountant to join a growing accountancy practice supporting a diverse portfolio of SME clients across a range of industries.

This is a varied, client-facing role suited to someone who enjoys managing their own portfolio, building strong client relationships and supporting businesses with their accounting, tax and compliance requirements. The successful candidate will be a proactive team player with solid technical knowledge and previous experience within an accountancy practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies 
Managing a portfolio of SME clients and acting as their day-to-day point of contact 
Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, including clients operating within the CIS scheme 
Preparing corporation tax returns and assisting with tax planning opportunities 
Preparing self-assessment tax returns for directors and individuals 
Producing management accounts and providing financial insights to clients 
Reviewing client bookkeeping records and advising on improvements where required 
Supporting clients with Xero, QuickBooks and cloud accounting solutions 
Liaising with HMRC and Companies House on behalf of clients 
Ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements 
Assisting Partners and senior team members with ad hoc advisory projects 

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working within an accountancy practice 
AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part-qualified, qualified, or qualified by experience 
Experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses 
Good understanding of VAT, corporation tax and self-assessment 
CIS experience desirable 
Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks and/or Sage 
Ability to manage multiple client assignments and deadlines 
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
