As part of the production team, you'll play a key role in transforming raw materials into finished components using press brake machinery - contributing to the delivery of high-accuracy, fit-for-purpose parts used in demanding environments.
Role Overview
The Press Brake Setter will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating press brake machines to bend and shape sheet metal components to tight tolerances. You will interpret engineering drawings and production schedules to ensure that parts meet required specifications, and you'll work collaboratively with the wider fabrication team to maintain workflow, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Read and interpret technical drawings, job sheets, and bend instructions.
* Select and correctly install the appropriate press brake tooling (punches, dies, backstops).
* Program or adjust machine settings for correct bend angle, radius, and dimensions.
* Perform test bends and inspect initial outputs to ensure accuracy.
* Monitor ongoing production to ensure parts remain within tolerance.
* Troubleshoot basic machine issues and make minor adjustments as required.
* Coordinate with cutting, punching, and assembly teams to maintain production flow.
* Keep the work area clean and compliant with health & safety standards.
* Report tooling wear, machine faults, or process improvements to supervisors or maintenance staff.
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 2 years' experience as a Press Brake Setter (ideally with both manual and CNC machines).
* Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
* Experience working with a variety of sheet metals (e.g. steel, aluminium, coated metals).
* High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, quality work.
* Understanding of bend allowances, spring back, and other key forming principles.
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a production team.
* Forklift or crane experience is desirable, though not essential.
