Job Title: Primary Design Engineers (HV Plant) - All Levels

Role Summary:
To lead or support the design and development of primary high-voltage substations (up to 400kv), ensuring compliance with National Grid standards (including the National Electricity Transmission System Owner - NETSO - requirements), safety, environmental legislation, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake the full lifecycle of substation primary design including feasibility, outline, and detailed design.
Prepare technical specifications for electrical plant and substation upgrades
Produce design deliverables in line with National Grid's Technical Specification documents (e.g., TS 3.02.01, TS 2.02.07).
Coordinate design interfaces between civil, electrical, and protection/control disciplines for obtaining concurrence in design specifications.
Prepare and check detailed designs including single-line diagrams (SLDs), general arrangement drawings (GAs), layout drawings, earthing studies, busbar configurations, and equipment specifications.
Ensure compliance with NGESO (National Grid Electricity System Operator) design standards and security of supply requirements.
Engage with stakeholders including National Grid, DNOs, consultants, and EPC contractors.
Attend and Lead/Contribute to Design Review and Contract Close-out Meetings, ensuring follow-up actions are completed promptly.
Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in primary substation design at 132kV, 275kV, or 400kV levels.
Previous project work involving National Grid assets, with a strong understanding of NG's design governance and approval processes.
Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and ETAP or other modelling tools.
Experience working with specifications such as TP106, TS 3.01.02, and TGN documents.
Familiarity with CDM Regulations and health and safety best practices.
Must have current Right to Work in the UK, Sponsorship not offered.
