Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Full-Time - Central Bedford
Location: Central Bedford
Start Date: September 2025 (or ASAP)
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 4:00pm, early finish on Fridays
Tradewind Recruitment are working with a number of specialist Primary SEN Schools in Central Bedford who are seeking full-time Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated teams from September. These roles are ideal for individuals with a passion for supporting children with additional needs, particularly those with Autism (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and ADHD.
The Schools
These inclusive and nurturing schools cater for pupils aged 4 to 11 with a range of learning and developmental needs. Each school is committed to personalised learning, emotional support and creating a safe, structured environment where children can thrive both academically and socially.
The Role
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Work closely with class teachers to support individual pupils or small groups with their learning and engagement
Adapt learning activities and provide hands-on support to meet individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
Support pupils with communication, attention, and sensory processing difficulties
Promote independence, confidence, and positive routines in the classroom
Collaborate with therapists, SENCOs and external professionals to provide holistic support
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children with ASD, MLD, ADHD, or other special educational needs
A patient, empathetic and proactive approach
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
A willingness to learn and adapt to different strategies and classroom approaches
A background in education, care, youth work, or psychology is desirable but not essential
