Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for a Primary Step-Out Tutor to provide tailored educational support to children who are currently unable to access a traditional school environment.
This role would suit an experienced Primary Teacher, Tutor, Teaching Assistant or education professional who is confident working with children who may have SEN, SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties or barriers to learning.
The successful candidate will provide a calm, nurturing and structured approach, helping pupils rebuild their confidence with education and gradually work towards re-engaging with learning.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
Providing 1:1 educational support to primary-aged pupils
Delivering engaging and appropriately differentiated learning
Supporting pupils who have stepped away from mainstream education
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Helping children develop confidence, resilience and independence
Supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH and behavioural needs
Adapting lessons around individual needs and abilities
Working closely with schools, families and other professionals
Helping pupils make progress towards successful reintegration into education
🚗 Essential Requirement - You MUST Be a Driver
Due to the nature of the role, you must hold a full UK driving licence and have regular access to your own vehicle.
You may be required to travel between different locations to deliver tuition, and access to a car is essential - no exceptions.

Experience working with primary-aged children
A patient, nurturing and engaging approach
Confidence supporting children with additional needs
The ability to adapt learning to individual pupils
Strong behaviour management and communication skills
The resilience to work with pupils who may be disengaged from education
A full UK driving licence and access to a carPrevious experience within SEN, SEMH, Alternative Provision or 1:1 tuition would be highly desirable.
