Penguin Recruitment is proud to be working with a leading environmental consultancy to recruit a Principal Consultant - Air Quality. This is a key leadership role, offering the chance to shape strategy, mentor a growing team, and deliver high-impact air quality projects across the UK.
The Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced professional who will:
Lead and manage the UK air quality team, driving strategy and excellence in delivery.
Deliver high-quality air quality assessments in line with UK regulations and best practice.
Apply advanced air quality modelling tools (e.g. ADMS-Roads, ADMS 6.0) to support project outcomes.
Work collaboratively with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams.
Mentor and develop team members, encouraging innovation and growth.
Support business development through proposals and strong client relationship management.
Keep abreast of regulatory changes and industry developments to maintain a market-leading service.
About You
We are looking for candidates with:
A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
8-10+ years of experience in air quality consultancy or a relevant sector.
Strong understanding of UK air quality regulations and frameworks.
Proficiency in ADMS-Roads, ADMS 6.0 and other air quality modelling tools.
(Preferred) Familiarity with GIS tools and spatial data analysis.
Proven leadership, project management, and communication skills.
A track record of building strong client relationships and delivering consultancy solutions.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Oversee and deliver air quality projects from inception to completion.
Perform advanced air quality modelling and produce detailed, client-ready reports.
Provide technical leadership in client meetings, workshops, and presentations.
Guide and support team members in both technical and professional development.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Contribute to continuous improvement of modelling methods and consultancy approaches.
