Principal to Associate Electrical Engineer | Oxford | Leadership, Low Carbon Design, Heritage Projects A highly respected, independently owned building services consultancy in Oxford is looking to bring on board a Principal or Associate-level Electrical Engineer. This is not your run-of-the-mill MEP consultancy. They’re deeply focused on sustainable, low-energy design and work on a fascinating mix of refurbishment, heritage, education, and complex infrastructure projects. The team includes specialists in lighting design, building physics, and Passivhaus, and they’ve built a culture where collaboration and technical excellence come first. With a strong pipeline of projects and an expanding portfolio, they’re now looking for a senior Electrical Engineer to help lead delivery and support the next generation of engineers. 🛠️ The Role: Take ownership of electrical design delivery across multiple projects, from feasibility and concept through to handover Lead coordination with internal MEP teams, architects, and external consultants to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems Oversee and guide the production of detailed designs including lighting, small power, distribution, fire alarms, security, data, and containment Act as the key technical lead during client meetings, site visits, and project reviews Get involved in strategic input, bids, fee proposals, and business development (particularly at Associate level) Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers, contributing to knowledge sharing across the team ✅ What You’ll Bring: A degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services (or similar) CEng or close to chartered status via IET or CIBSE 8+ years of experience in the building services consultancy environment, ideally with time at Principal or Associate level Strong technical design background with experience delivering projects in sectors like education, healthcare, heritage, or commercial Able to lead projects, manage client relationships, and communicate clearly across disciplines Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux or Relux, and relevant UK building regulations Passionate about low-carbon, energy-efficient building design.
