The Opportunity
We are seeking a Chartered Principal Bridge Engineer to play a key role in the design and delivery of a diverse portfolio of bridge and infrastructure projects. You will work as part of a highly experienced, collaborative team, contributing across all project stages from concept through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver design solutions for new and existing bridge structures across a range of materials and structural forms
Contribute to early-stage project activities including scoping, surveys, inspections, and optioneering
Lead and manage detailed design, including analysis, calculations, and oversight of drawing production
Support business development activities including client engagement and tender submissions
Prepare and review technical documentation such as specifications, reports, and contract documents
Undertake key project roles including design approvals, technical checking, and site representation
Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams across a variety of sectors
Manage project budgets and contribute to commercial performanceRequirements
Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IStructE or equivalent)
Minimum 7 years' post-graduate experience in bridge engineering within consultancy or contracting environments
Strong technical expertise in bridge design and assessment
Experience managing projects and delivering work within budget constraints
Proven involvement in tenders and fee proposals
Ability to lead projects or significant work packages
Experience managing teams and engaging with clients and stakeholders
Knowledge of structural analysis tools, including finite element modelling
Strong understanding of UK design standards, including DMRB and Eurocodes
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Detail-oriented with the ability to work to tight deadlinesDesirable
