Principal Ecologist
Birmingham
6 months initial
£500 per day Outside of IR35
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Ecologist to play a key role in delivering the Green Corridor and ensuring No Net Loss of Biodiversity on a major infrastructure programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical assurance on ecological design and mitigation.
* Integrate ecological and landscape design within civil engineering works.
* Oversee habitat creation, enhancement, and species mitigation.
* Ensure compliance with environmental standards, policy, and legislation.
* Lead problem solving and support project delivery teams.
* Engage with statutory bodies and guide ecology and design teams.
About You
* Significant experience in ecological design and delivery for large infrastructure projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK ecological legislation and best practice.
* Degree in Ecology or related field; CIEEM member (or eligible).
* Skilled in project management and stakeholder engagement.
* Full UK driving licence; flexibility to travel.
