About the Role:
Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Principal Engineer specialising in flood risk, river engineering and water management. You will lead the development and delivery of sustainable, nature-based solutions across multidisciplinary projects - from concept through to construction.
You'll collaborate closely with technical specialists across hydraulic modelling, environmental disciplines, and design, ensuring high-quality outcomes that protect communities and improve natural environments.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver flood risk, river engineering and water management schemes
Design structures including culverts, weirs, outfalls, sluices and river walls in line with relevant standards
Lead option appraisals to create economic, sustainable engineering solutions
Produce detailed construction information, drawings and specifications
Collaborate with CAD Technicians to ensure clear and accurate design output
Undertake site visits, asset inspections and supervision of construction works
Support contract preparation, administration and NEC site supervision
Manage project coordination, client liaison and budget control
Mentor and support junior engineers
What Our Client is Looking For:
BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering
Chartered or working towards Chartered status
Strong experience in flood risk or civil engineering design
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; relevant engineering software beneficial
Familiarity with CESWI and NEC contracts desirable but not essential
A proactive team player with strong organisation and communication skills
