Professional Technical is seeking a Principal Engineer for a leading automotive manufacturer in the East Midlands. Role Summary for the Principal Engineer
You'll lead the design and development of vehicle components-especially chassis and powertrain-ensuring projects meet time, cost, quality, and specification requirements. As a Principal Design team member, you'll handle more complex technical tasks and play a key role in cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities for the Principal Engineer
Deliver component design (chassis/powertrain) to defined targets.
Liaise with specialists and chief engineers to meet project goals.
Ensure alignment with cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
Collaborate across teams and suppliers to enhance efficiency.
Support project planning and risk escalation.
Assist with additional projects and duties as required.Requirements for the Principal Engineer
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Advanced proficiency in CREO and surface modelling.
Automotive/motorcycle industry design experience preferred.
Strong technical, detail-oriented, and communication skills.
