Job Title: Principal Engineer - Major Infrastructure Projects
Salary: £52,000 to £75,000 (dependent on experience) + £5,800 car allowance
Location: Hybrid - Slough, Maple Lodge, Crossness and/or Swindon
Type: Permanent, hybrid (up to 3 days/week on-site or in-office)

Our client is seeking experienced Principal Engineers to lead technical teams and help modernise major Water Treatment Works across their network. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of UK water infrastructure through high-value capital projects, some worth up to £300 million.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and plan the design activities for a portfolio of infrastructure projects
Oversee technical assurance of contractor designs and manage design changes
Support project teams during asset commissioning and handover
Act as the main contact for CDM regulations and Principal Designer duties
Conduct site inspections and collaborate to improve health and safety outcomes
Manage and mitigate risks while adding value across project stages
Build strong relationships with stakeholders and regulators
Apply commercial awareness to guide project delivery strategies
What Our Client is Looking For:
Degree in civil, mechanical, or related engineering discipline (Master's desirable)
Chartered status or working towards it
Experience in delivering major capital projects (ideally up to £100m)
Strong analytical and risk-based decision-making abilities
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proven leadership and team management background
Valid driving licence and access to personal transport

Salary up to £75,000 (DOE)
