Good Afternoon,
I am currently representing West Sussex Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience
We are looking for a Principal Finance Officer this role will be: Hybrid 2 days Office Based PO191RQ
The right candidate will:
* Lead on the council’s Fixed Asset Register & Fixed Asset Revaluation Programme for the council’s financial statements
* Lead on IFRS 16 from the financial statements perspective
* Lead on the SAP Control Environment, including maintenance of General Ledger
* Lead on support to External Audit
* Lead on production of Whole of Government Accounts
* Contributes to financial planning looking at the annual budget cycle within a longer term strategy. Identifies structural or other problems with budgets and advises clients on strategies to organise resources differently, including issuing virements for the reallocation of financial resources in order to help clients to resolve complex financial issues to meet their broad service requirements.
* Implements existing and new financial arrangements relating to the service area or activity managed, including those which arise from national legislation. Including interpreting and analysing new legislation to alter/create policies and guidance to ensure compliance.
* Responsible for the computerised financial information on SAP for the relevant service areas. Accuracy and confidentiality are paramount, including ensuring staff managed handle this information appropriately.
We require the following:
* Experience contributing to setting and monitoring budgets and plans for a specific service within a large organisation or for a small overall business.
* Significant experience delivering either a professional accountancy service with a high level accountability for resources on behalf of various clients.
* Relevant chartered status of a professional body e.g. CIPFA or equivalent high level experience of involved practices.
