A well-established, privately led consultancy of Fire Engineering Consultants, Building Services Engineers, and Project Managers is seeking a Principal Fire Engineer to join their Glasgow teams.
With a long-standing UK and international client base, their senior leadership remains hands-on across projects, ensuring quality, collaboration, and technical excellence.
The Principal Fire Engineer's Role
The Principal Fire Engineer will lead complex fire engineering projects from inception to completion, managing scope, programme, budget, and client expectations. Acting as a key contact, the Principal Fire Engineer will build trusted relationships with clients, design teams, and authorities, while supporting bids, fee proposals, and business development.
Technically, the Principal Fire Engineer will deliver and review fire strategies, façade assessments, and detailed analyses including CFD, evacuation modelling, and smoke control. Maintaining strong knowledge of UK legislation (Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS 7974), the Principal Fire Engineer will ensure all outputs are robust and compliant.
The Principal Fire Engineer
The Principal Fire Engineer will mentor junior engineers, providing guidance, oversight, and structured feedback to support professional growth. Working collaboratively across disciplines, the Principal Fire Engineer will contribute to consistent, high-quality project delivery and internal standards.
They will also manage project finances, support forecasting, and maintain accurate records, ensuring both commercial and operational success.
Requirements:
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural or similar)
Postgraduate qualification in Fire Engineering
Full IFE membership; working towards or holding CEng
Minimum 6 years' UK fire engineering experience
Proven project leadership and technical review capabilityIn Return?
