Empowering Your Expertise As a Functional Safety Principal, you will:
Lead with Impact: Take the lead in developing and refining functional safety policy and procedures, shaping best practice across the organisation.
Drive Assurance: Conduct crucial inspection and auditing activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety are met and maintained.
Influence Design: Work proactively with operations teams to define functional safety requirements for new and evolving building projects.
Solve Complex Challenges: Utilise your expertise in safety-related systems to perform requirements capture and analysis, and support critical incident investigations.

What We Are Looking For We partner with organisations that value profound expertise and a proactive approach to safety. For this pivotal role, you will be ideally a Chartered Member of a relevant engineering institution and possess a degree-level qualification in an engineering discipline or equivalent industrial experience.
You will demonstrate:
Certified Expertise: Functional Safety Expert certification from an appropriate certifying body (e.g., IChemE, TUV, CFSE).
Applied Knowledge: Recent experience applying engineering good practice as highlighted in BS EN 61508 / 61511 within the process industry.
Risk Management Mastery: Proven expertise in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements capture and analysis, alongside practical experience in managing risks within process safety or high-hazard environments.
Hazard Analysis Skills: Demonstrated experience in hazard identification (HAZID), hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), and layers of protection analysis (LOPA).
Experience working on a site regulated under Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) regulations, or equivalent, is highly desirable, as is experience in other high-hazard industries.

Location and Remuneration This role is based in Wiltshire. While attendance at a client location or other government/partner premises is required for 60% of your working time, there is also the flexibility for home-based working with agreement, allowing for a good work-life balance.
