Job Description
Our client, is currently seeking a Principal Planning Officer on a contract basis to join their team. This role offers the flexibility of working one day per week in the office. It presents an immediate opportunity for those seasoned in Development Management and Town Planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing the development management process for new projects
Managing complex planning applications and ensuring alignment with local development plans
Providing expert advice on town planning principles to internal and external stakeholders
Conducting thorough assessments of planning proposals
Representing the council in meetings and public inquiries
Drafting and reviewing detailed planning reports
Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and environmental policies
Mentoring and supporting junior members of the planning team
Job Requirements:
Experience in development management within the highways sector
In-depth knowledge of town planning, including relevant legislation and policies
Proven ability to manage complex planning applications
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and presentation abilities
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
Degree in town planning or a related discipline
Professional membership with a relevant planning institution is desirable
Contract Details:
Duration: 12 months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Immediate start
One day per week required in office
