The Opportunity A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join their growing team within the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology sectors. This is a chance to take a senior technical role on a wide range of challenging programmes, from niche consultancy assignments to major national initiatives. You’ll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where your input will shape outcomes and drive innovation. This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Senior Systems Engineer, Systems Architect, MBSE Consultant, Technical Lead, Engineering Manager, Integration Engineer, Requirements Engineer, Capability Analyst, Solution Architect, or Systems Design Engineer. Your duties and responsibilities will be Provide expert systems engineering consultancy to clients, supporting project and engineering leadership. Lead the application of structured systems thinking and MBSE methodologies across diverse projects. Develop and implement strategies to support key decision-making milestones. Deliver high-quality engineering outputs within agreed timeframes and budgets. Mentor and support the development of junior engineers within the team.You will have the following qualifications and experience A degree in a relevant STEM discipline or equivalent professional experience in systems engineering. Chartered status or equivalent professional recognition (e.g. CEng, CSEP). Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo or Sparx EA, and familiarity with modelling languages like SysML or UML. Strong understanding of systems engineering frameworks and lifecycle standards (e.g. ISO 15288).
