Role: Principal Electrical Engineer - Building Services
Location: Oxford (Hybrid - 3 Days Office/Site)
Salary: Up to £65,000 + Bonus + Private Healthcare + Benefits
Overview
We're working with a growing, people-focused building services consultancy that's seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their Oxford office. With a dynamic pipeline of sustainability-driven projects and a team culture built on collaboration and progression, this role offers the chance to lead projects while mentoring a small, tight-knit group of Electrical engineers.
You'll join a well-established electrical team of around five engineers, taking a lead role in project delivery and technical direction while helping to shape the growth of the practice in Oxford. This is a hands-on position with a mix of leadership, client engagement, and design oversight.
Requirements & Responsibilities
As Principal Electrical Engineer, you'll be responsible for the full lifecycle of electrical design across a wide range of sectors-education, healthcare, science & research, heritage, and commercial. You'll collaborate with colleagues across offices and disciplines, ensuring high-quality output and client satisfaction on every project.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the delivery of electrical design from concept to completion
Managing and mentoring a small team of engineers
Overseeing quality control, compliance, and coordination across disciplines
Maintaining strong client relationships and representing the business in meetings
Supporting wider business development and contributing to internal training and CPDsYou'll also be a key figure in promoting sustainable design practices, sharing knowledge across the business, and supporting the development of more junior engineers through regular mentoring and appraisals.
What You'll Need
This role is ideal for an experienced building services engineer ready to take on more leadership responsibility in a well-supported environment. You should have:
A solid track record in electrical design within a consultancy setting
Experience delivering projects across multiple sectors
Strong leadership and team management skills
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux, Trimble, Relux etc
A collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving
Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
Chartered status (or working toward it)
